Colours of Manor Park
Year
2024 ongoing
Location
London
Royffe Flynn is undertaking an extensive external refurbishment of Manor Park Library in Newham. Investing in the appearance of the library was voted for by residents during the development of the Newham High Streets Programme. The project aims to continue engaging with the stakeholders to develop and finalise the design proposals. The creative façade enhancement alongside the installation of a series of artworks and mural in the area aims to bring a sense of identity to Manor Park and make the area feel more welcoming. A series of three public artworks are being installed by Royffe Flynn working with the London Mural Company for the London Borough of Newham following an extensive Co-Design process with the local community. The artworks will be installed September 2024. For Manor Park Community Centre, a reintrepretation of stained glass has been designed through collaborative pattern cutouts with the users of the community centre.
For Manor Park Station, a lenticular artwork will be installed which will look different from each direction, reflecting the colours of the city from one side and the colours of the
parklands from the other.
For Manor Park Library, a large scale typographic mural will incorporate quotes from and about the area. These will be gathered from and selected by the public during the next
round of consultation.
